Jada Saves the Day:
A Cybersecurity Adventure
The Jada Saves the Day children's book is a story, written and published on Amazon by Kayli Battel. The book uses the story of Jada's heroic rescue of her brother's high school robotics team to share themes of cooperation, computer science knowledge, empowerment, and integrity. Along the way, the story introduces important Cyber Safety themes such as viruses, personal information, and anti-malware software.

Why write Jada?
The beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic introduced a greater than ever need for protection online for vulnerable populations. Even though our Sisters in STEM CyberSIS program was reaching children in third grade and above to teach much-needed Cybersecurity and Cyber Safety skills, we realized that children even younger than our audience were online - and extremely susceptible to scams, phishing, and predators.
I took it upon myself to reach children through a different medium: visual storytelling. I wrote the story, and with the help of another high school robotics student, visualized Jada and her friends. With the stunning illustrations of artist E. Kidd, I self-published Jada Saves the Day on Amazon in December of 2022.
To date, we have published 1 paper in the ASEE Annual Conference 2022 regarding the development and progress of Jada Saves the Day. More information can be found in the Publications section of my Resume.
