The Smart Playground:

Usability and Data Collection Testing

ME-294, Semester Project with the Tufts Center for Engineering Education and Outreach

Professor Chris Rogers

Fall, 2024

The Smart Playground is a collaboration project between Boston College, Tufts University, and University of California, Irvine. This four-year project aims to foster computational thinking (CT) skills for children, through play. For a semester project during my Master’s Degree, I worked with the Tufts Center for Engineering Education and Outreach on developing curriculum, considering usability of technology, and creating data collection materials for researchers analyzing different activities and forms of tech. After creating data collection materials, we tested them with five children in Boston and I analyzed the results of this session. My contributions and final poster can be found below.
